ITALIAN BUSINESS CLUB ASSOCIATION LAUNCHED IN ZAMBIA
The Italian Business Club has been officially launched in Zambia by Hon Minister of Justice Mulambo Haimbe SC, the Ambassador of Italy H.E. Enrico De Agostini and the IBC President Dr Michel Scarantino on the 9th of December 2023.
The Lauch was attended by over 100 people belonging to various business sectors and communities who were represented by the Zambia Chamber of Commerce, The Zambia Association of Manufacturares, the The Law Association of Zambia and many others.
The IBC aims to be a place that can guarantee a safe landing in Zambia for Italian Investors that are looking at business opportunities in the region as well as to be a place were Zambian Businesses would associate and be a full and active integral part looking forward to be linked to Italian Manufacturers, Italian Know-how, Italian suppliers, and of course investors both locally and internationally.
The launch of the Association follows the visit to Zambia by Italian President Sergio Mattarella in July 2022 and the visit to Italy by President Hakainde Hichilema in November 2023 who both echoed the need for the two countries to strengthen bilateral and trade relations and where IBC representatives were in attendance.
Launching the Club in Lusaka, Italian Ambassador to Zambia Enrico De Agostini encouraged Zambian Companies to partner with their Italian Counterparts in order to penetrate both the Zambian and Italian markets.
Ambassador De Agostini said Italy has been Zambia’s development partner for several decades and this is evidenced by the country’s support to sectors such as Agriculture, Mining, Construction, education and health in Zambia.
In officiating at the launch, Zambia’s Minister of Justice Honourable Mulambo Haimbe SC emphasised the New Dawn Government’s commitment to foster bilateral relations to promote and increase economic development. Honourable Haimbe further encouraged Zambia’s business community to take advantage of this platform to create workable partnerships for the common good of both countries.
Meanwhile, Italian Business Club President Dr. Michel Scarantino said that he looked forward to quality membership from both the Zambian and the Italian Business Community that will exchange profound ideas and create value addition.
The Association is open to everyone locally and internationally for all the ones who love both Zambia and Italy.
The IBC will also offer to its local and International members the benefit to book and utilise an office at the newly constricted LAZ House where the Association will be based from January 2024.

IBC signs MOU as founding member of the LIAC (The Lusaka International Arbitration Centre)

IBC President Dr Arch Michel Scarantino signs MOU for the formation of the Lusaka International Arbitration Centre (LIAC) as a Company Limited by Guarantee.
Lusaka International Arbitration Centre will be a forum for the resolution and administration of international and domestic commercial arbitrations and other alternative dispute processes in the country
The LIAC launch was blessed at the at Ridgeway Sun Hotel on the 8th of February 2023 in the Presence of the Hon Minister of Justice Mulambo Haimbe, Hon Min of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga,
the Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha and the Solicitor General Marshal Muchende.
The signing ceremony took place on the 10th of March 2023 at the Law Association of Zambia house where the LIAC will open its offices.
